How To Be A Superhero In A Batman And Robin Costume
One of my favorite superheroes is the Caped Crusader – Batman, the man in black. He’s also called the Dark Knight or the “Bat”. Who is it that keeps Gotham City safe from criminals? Batman and Robin, the Boy Wonder, of course. Who hasn’t dreamt of being a superhero when they were younger? Whatever your age or sex, you can put on a Batman or Robin fancy dress costume and imagine you are a great crime fighter.
Batman’s costume was manufactured to give the impression of being like a bat. This was to terrify the criminals. Batman’s mantle has a scalloped hem which represents the bat’s wings and wears a mask with bat-like ears. He has a dark briefs on over his suit. What is it with superheroes and briefs? Most frequently his costume is a blue and grey color and his utility belt is yellow. But in the 1960s television series, he wears a bluish purple and grey costume. Batman’s suit in the movies is a menacing black.
In the film series Robin takes to wearing a similar outfit to Batman but in the comics he invariably wears yellow, red and green One of the creators of Batman and Robin, Jerry Robinson, was inspired by The Adventures Of Robin Hood when he creaed Robin’s suit. You have two choices if you want to dress as the Boy Wonder: red tunic, green spandex briefs, yellow cape, yellow utility belt, green boots and gloves, or you can wear black as in the later movies.
That’s the costume sorted, but you can’t be Batman or Robin without some gadgets to go along with the suit. You definitely will need to stock up your utility belt with weapons such as the batarang or bat goo gun. Robed and armoured, all you need now is a suitable vehicle to get around and Batman has many. The most famous vehicle has to be the Batmobile, a very striking long black car with tail fins that are meant to imitate bat wings. Other possibilities are the bat plane, bat boat, bat sub or bat motorcycle.
If you’re handy with a needle and thread, you could run up a Batman or Robin costume yourself. Another choice is to procure a ready-made Batman or Robin costume. You’re sure to have great fun dressing up as either Batman or Robin for Halloween or for any fancy dress party. There are lots of other interesting characters in the Batman stories. One especially interesting outfit for females is a Catwoman costume. She’s not completely good or bad.
